The Landscape of Lent

landscape_of_lent

We’re going to travel through the wilderness, wind, water, mud, into the cave, through the palms, to the stone. It’s not a bear hunt – it’s our sermon series for Lent 2017! Each week we are pulling out one elemental concept from our readings to help illustrate our theme. Lent is traditionally a time of preparation to celebrate Easter. It was a time of teaching for people preparing to confess their faith in baptism. It also developed to be a time of return for people who had broken fellowship with the church.

For each of us it gives us the opportunity to consider where we are in our journey of discipleship with Jesus. Whatever circumstances we find ourselves travelling through this Lent, may we hear God’s invitation to draw closer to Him.
